7. Shearwater - The Golden Archipelago
Free mp3 of The Golden Archipelago track "Castaways" from Matador. It is a beautiful song. Give this one a listen.
6. The Tallest Man on Earth - The Wild Hunt
If you like his voice, you will love this album.
5. Sufjan Stevens - The Age of Adz
Sufjan became elctro-man this year, but I still love him.
4. Candy Claws - Hidden Lands
I have been a long time fan of these guys. The first post I ever did for this blog was gushing about Candy Claws. I am happy to see them get more exposure--this album and their previous debut have earned the attention.
3. Wild Nothing - Gemini & Golden Haze
"Chinatown," "Confirmation," and "Summer Holiday" are the stand-out tracks that put this album on my list. Also check out their excellent song "Golden Haze," another of my favorites of the year, on their Golden Haze ep.
2. The National - The High Violet
I loved this album; it is very lyrically rich.
1. Arcade Fire - The Suburbs
A well deserving mainstream hit. Arcade Fire have been consistently killing it since 2004.
